Guest Speaker – Wayne Chen, MODEC
Wayne Chen - Westwood Houston Offshore Update 2025

Wayne Chen is a Senior Digital Technology Engineer at MODEC America, with over 10 years of experience in the deepwater offshore sector. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas and holds a PhD in Structural Engineering as well as a Master’s degree in Computer Science.

Wayne spent much of his career specializing in subsea structure design and manufacturing before transitioning to digital and data-driven engineering within the oil and gas industry. Since joining MODEC two years ago, he has been responsible for digital scopes in project pre-FEED studies and supporting AI initiatives. His background includes artificial intelligence, particularly the application of deep learning techniques in computer vision and natural language processing, as well as autonomous robotic control, and he is passionate about advancing digitalization in offshore engineering.
