The 2020 State of Exploration Report analyses global conventional exploration performance over the past five years, together with exploration drilling plans for 2021.

The analysis covers all high impact and frontier drilling by the industry, the key discoveries of 2019, the key plays explored and all frontier drilling. Exploration performance trends have been analysed using a benchmark group of 32 international E&P companies that participated in 549 conventional wildcat wells between 2015 and 2019, drilled at a cost of $16.5bn and discovering 23.8bnboe of oil and gas.
