2024 was a relatively positive year for floating wind, with several commercial scale projects across France, the UK and South Korea securing the subsidies that should enable them to reach FID in due course. With more significant floating tenders set to conclude in 2025 and more details potentially emerging about 2024’s winners, could 2025 be the year that the floating wind market begins to take shape? Given these developments, Westwood followed up from our 2024 survey, seeking to learn if the industry view regarding floating wind has changed over the course of a year.
The potential of floating wind is increasingly being recognised by new markets worldwide. To chart the course of this technology, we deployed a comprehensive global survey. Our aim is to capture the most expansive and diverse range of insights possible. To achieve this, Westwood ran the survey in association with World Forum Offshore Wind, Norwegian Offshore Wind, Oceantic Network and WindEurope.
